Get us to the church on time…the girls made their first Holy Communion yesterday. The sun shone, the Spring showers held off, it was a great day.
During the ceremony, Padre Joe (as Talbot fondly calls him) said, ‘you don’t teach religion, you catch it.” And it’s not so much as catching religion, but catching a sense of community spirit, family and friendships colliding together to celebrate.
This was a right of passage for the girls, for their Irish heritage, as much as for their Catholic heritage. And it’s days like this when I feel full and truly grateful for how life can unfold.
It wouldn’t be a Sweeney gathering without 200+ pictures, I’ve condensed for anyone patient enough (honest!)…keeping in mind, we love to bring our family from Ont. & Ireland in on all our occasions. Thanks all for coming out to support the girls and sharing the day.
Back at the ranch…there was nettle soup, flank steak and cakes, designed by the girls: Amelia’s cake, adorned with amelia roses, was filled with raspberry swirl & raspberry coulis and Dahlia’s cake, topped with a big dahlia flower was filled with orange sponge and coconut curd – divine!
Any interested in a ‘practically new’ Communion/Flower Girl dress, size 7 and size 8/9…let me know! 😉
